What is a Router?

Routers enable you to connect multiple devices to your broadband services.  The router splits the incoming signal and redirects it to your various devices.  A wired router uses an Ethernet cable to move data from a modem to your computer.

Wireless Router (WiFi)

A wireless router can be used to allow access to the Internet or a computer network without the need for a cabled connection.  Use of a wireless router is commonly referred to as WiFi.  WiFi enables users to access their computer network with such devices as other computers, game systems, smart phones, tables and digital audio players.
