FPB Begins Annual Hydrant Flushing Monday

Customer safety is job number one for the Frankfort Plant Board. A critical component to community safety is ensuring the fire suppression infrastructure is in proper working order. Every year, FPB conducts necessary maintenance to assess every one of the over 1,600 fire hydrants in our community.

The Frankfort Plant Board will begin its annual hydrant flushing on Monday, April 20.

Hydrant flushing is necessary to maintain the integrity and quality of the distribution system and to ensure hydrants are functioning properly.  This also allows FPB to obtain firefighting flow information, which is shared with city and county fire departments.

We ask that motorists use caution in the flushing areas due to possible water in the roadway.  Some discoloration may occur in your tap water; this is normal.  If discoloration persists after running your faucet for a short time, please call 352-4372.

We anticipate hydrant flushing to last 2-3 months.  For daily updates please watch FPB-TV channel 10, visit our website www.fpb.cc, like Frankfort Plant Board on Facebook, follow us on twitter (@fewpb and @fpbalerts) or tune to 103.7 FM, 104.9 FM and 1490 AM.

Monday’s hydrant flushing locations are: Coffee Tree Rd., Capital View Park, Capital side of Downtown, Glenns Creek Rd., McCracken Pike, Deerwood and Duncan Rd.
