FPB Water Service Interruption

FPB Water crews are working a water main break on Murray St. in downtown Frankfort. The break has caused a service interruption. 

Areas impacted include: Murray St. from East Todd to East 3rd and East 4th from Logan St. to Fowler. Gobel Ct. is also impacted.  

Repairs are estimated to take four hours. 

A Boil Water Advisory will be in effect after service is restored.

Scam Alert

It seems this scam is resurfacing and FPB customers need to be aware of this scam in the Frankfort area. We have received reports of businesses being approached by someone claiming to represent FPB.  This person states the business owes for a bill and that they need to go and get a prepaid card and then provide them with the card's number.  FPB NEVER does business this wayPlease be aware of this possible scam and If you have any questions, please call 352-4372.

Notice of Public Hearing

The Frankfort Electric and Water Plant Board will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at Farmers Bank & Capital Trust located at 125 W. Main Street, Frankfort, Kentucky, 40601 to solicit oral or written comments regarding the Revisions of Tariff Language to Provide Clarification and Standardization of Deposits for Electric, Water and Cable/Telecommunications Services; and Incorporate Language for the Use of Utility Scoring.

 The proposed Tariff revisions are as follows:

  • The incorporation of deposit information for all lines of business into one section of FPB’s tariff.

  • Calculations for electric and water deposits.

  • The use of utility scoring for determining deposits for residential class customers.

  • The use of utility scoring for determining deposits for landlords.

  • The inclusion of written Landlord and Co-signer Agreements.

  • The definition of satisfactory utility rating.

Staff recommends these revisions become effective September 1, 2015

FPB Board to Discuss Headend Construction - Tuesday, August 18

As part of the regularly scheduled FPB Board meeting, the Frankfort Plant Board will have a public meeting regarding the construction of our new Headend facility. This item will be added to the Agenda of the regularly scheduled FPB Board meeting which will be held tomorrow night, August 18, 2015 on the 4th floor of the Farmers Bank office located at 125 W. Main Street beginning at 5:00 p.m. FPB Staff along with GRW Engineers will make a presentation outlining the scope of work related to the Headend building and future projects  associated with a new reservoir.

FPB Electric Service Interruption Planned for Sunday, August 16

Sunday morning (August 16), FPB Electric crews will conduct a scheduled maintenance outage in large parts of our west Frankfort service area. This maintenance is necessary to allow for voltage conversion, make system upgrades, and preparations for a new substation section.

The area impacted includes: Pierce Lane, Devils Hollow, Skyview Drive, Skyline Drive, Westridge Elementary, Moss Lane, Richardson Lane, Pea Ridge, King Lane, Holly Hill and part of the National Guard facilities.

The areas listed may not completely be without electric service. Some addresses in these areas will be impacted, some will not. One side of the street may be without power, the other side of the street may have power. Some houses will have power; some will not have power, etc. The maintenance will impact between 200-300 customers.

The maintenance window will begin at 6:00 AM Sunday, August 16 and power should be restored to the affected areas by 9:00 AM.

The scheduled work is contingent on favorable weather. If there is rain, the maintenance may be postponed and rescheduled. We appreciate customer patience during this necessary system maintenance and upgrade.

UPDATE: Sinkhole Road Closure

UPDATE (4:14pm) from the KY Transportation Cabinet:

TRAFFIC ALERT - KY 2259 (Shelby Street) is closed at the intersection with 4th Street in downtown Frankfort. A portion of the pavement at this intersection has... collapsed due to a large hole that has formed in the ground underneath the roadway.

KYTC maintenance staff have closed the intersection of Shelby Street and 4th Street to traffic. Crews will spend the evening filling the hole below the roadway with concrete. Once this material has cured, they will patch the roadway with asphalt. This intersection will remain closed until late in the day on Thursday, August 13.
