Power Conservation Alert, June 14-16

Due to expected high temperatures and high electricity demand of consumers, the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency (KYMEA) is asking its members’ customers to voluntarily conserve electricity from June 14 through June 16.

FPB customers are encouraged to reduce their electricity use during the next few days to save money now and later. Participation will lower electric use throughout the community and reduce utility energy costs over time. The more people to participate, the bigger the impact on the community.

Here are some ways that customers can help:

1. Turn your thermostat up 2-3 degrees; or use a fan instead of the A/C.

2. Limit the use of large, heat-producing appliances (dishwasher, dryer, oven, etc.)

3. Close your blinds and drapes to keep the heat out.

This market-wide capacity advisory alert originated from MISO, a power supplier responsible for operating the power grid across 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba.

This is a voluntary action that is triggered to mitigate the effects of tight power supply and transmission during heavy customer usage. Please monitor the FPB website at https://fpb.cc/ or social media for alerts to return to routine operating conditions.

This Advisory will remain in effect until lab analysis of water samples taken confirms that the potable water supply in the affected area is safe to drink. You will receive a notice when the advisory is lifted.

Hydrant Flushing Locations for 6-10-2022

FPB Water crews will be flushing fire hydrants at the following locations on Friday, June 10th:

  • Colonial Trace

  • Imperial Mobile Home Park

  • Versailles Rd.

  • Elkhorn Dr.

Hydrant flushing is necessary to maintain the integrity and quality of the distribution system and to insure hydrants are functioning properly.  This will also allow FPB to obtain firefighting flow information, which is shared with city and county fire departments.

We ask that motorists please use caution in the flushing areas due to possible water in the roadway.  Some discoloration may occur in your tap water; this is normal.  If discoloration persists after running your faucet for a short time, please call 352-4372.

FPB Cable-Telecom Planned Maintenance Outage Scheduled

FPB Cable-Telecom crews will conduct planned maintenance service interruptions in order to upgrade server components during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 7.

Customers should plan on brief outages occurring between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. during the maintenance window.  FPB telephone and cable modem Internet customers will experience loss of voice/data connectivity at varying intervals during this time.  Customers may need to reboot their modems, routers, and computers if they experience an outage longer than the scheduled maintenance window.  FPB NextBand Internet and Cable TV video services will be unaffected by this maintenance.

This maintenance will improve network reliability for customers. FPB appreciates your patience during this outage.
