Consumer Advisory

The Frankfort Plant Board has been made aware of door-to-door salesmen in the Frankfort and Franklin County area from a company called Amp Titanium selling solar panel installations. They suggest that their product is somehow related to FPB’s smart meter replacement project. This is not the case. We are not working with nor are we affiliated with Amp Titanium or any residential solar sales company.

Update (11/2/23 - 1:35pm) - We have received additional comments that these sales people are identifying themselves as FPB employees. A picture of the salesman is below.

Anyone coming to your home or business to replace your meter will be a uniformed Frankfort Plant Board employee with an FPB identification badge.

If you have any questions, please give us a call at 502-352-4372. For more information about our smart meter project, please visit www.fpb.cc/ami

FPB to celebrate 80 years with Customer Appreciation Day Oct. 13

The Frankfort Plant Board invites all customers to celebrate its 80-year anniversary this Friday, Oct 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main office located at 151 Flynn Ave. in Frankfort. Customers will receive a free lunch and giveaways. Entertainment will be provided by Froggy Radio.

Utility service has a long and distinguished history in the Frankfort. The water department traces its roots back to 1804 with the construction of a dam at Cove Springs by the Frankfort Water Company. In 1882, electric service began with the establishment of the Capital Gas & Electric Light Company, located behind the Old State Capitol on Washington & Mero Streets.

In 1951, local merchants approached the Frankfort Plant Board with the idea of stringing cables on electric poles and placing a community antenna at the reservoir in Tanglewood – so residents in North and South Frankfort could receive TV signals from Louisville and Cincinnati.

The growth of industry and population in our community required the consolidation of electric & water services into a new municipal organization and in 1943, thanks to the ingenuity of local attorney – Marion Rider – the enabling legislation was created establishing the community’s municipal utility, the Frankfort Plant Board.

“What’s so special about a municipal utility?” asked FPB Director of Communications Cathy Lindsey. “It’s local control, local people determining their own needs, making local decisions to improve the lives of its community.  It’s local jobs. During the last 80 years, employing thousands of people in Frankfort, FPB has returned millions of dollars to the local economy.  It’s reinvesting in our community and not sending hundreds of millions of our dollars to investor-owned corporations outside of our community.”
