Tips to Avoid Frozen Water Pipes

FPB Water Department advises its customers to make special preparations for the extreme cold weather. The potential for private plumbing to freeze is very high with these conditions.

FPB Water Department Tips:

1. Open cabinets under sinks to allow heat to enter.

2. Cover any vents and openings to crawl spaces.

3. Keep a small stream of water running from the cold water faucet.  Water flowing in the pipes will prevent freezing.

4. Locate and tag the water shutoff valve in your home. Knowing where the valve is located and how to shut it off can help prevent water damage in the case of a burst pipe.
