QAM Tuner Cable Customer Rescan Required

FPB Cable customers who use a QAM tuner to receive their programming must rescan their TVs in order to see the soon-to-launch SEC Network.

FPB Classic Cable customers will soon have a new sports network to watch Southeastern Conference athletics, but before watching the upcoming UK basketball games, customers may need to rescan their TV.

FPB Cable customers who use a QAM tuner to receive their programming must rescan their TVs in order to see the soon-to-launch SEC Network. Customers who have an FPB DTA or advanced set top will not need to rescan.  Only those customers getting their signal directly from the cable wire to the back of their TV need to rescan.

The SEC Network will be seen on FPB Classic Cable channel 34 and in HD on 534. Programming for the new network begins on August 14. The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team is competing in an exhibition event in the Bahamas and the final three games of the trip will air on the SEC Network beginning August 15. The Cats will also play on the 16th and 17th with all game times tipping off at 1pm. The first three games of the exhibition trip will be played on August 10, 11 and 12 on ESPNU, FPB Preferred Cable channel 141 and in HD on 641. Those game times are also at 1pm.

The rescan will also allow customers to see the SEC Network’s part-time, overflow channel on channel 97. The part-time channel will be used when games run past the allotted times on the SEC Network. For instance, if a 1:00pm game is in overtime and there is a 4:00pm game scheduled on the SEC Network, the 4:00 game will be seen on the overflow channel until the conclusion of the 1:00 game.

After rescanning, customers will also see another new addition to the lineup, getTV. Airing on channel 30, getTV is a new television network that brings the classic films you love to your living room. Enjoy the glamour of old Hollywood with legendary actors and award-winning films playing all day and night.

FPB Assistant General Manager of Cable-Telecom John Higginbotham urges customers to be proactive and rescan before the August 14 launch of the SEC Network. “The network launches on August 14. We all know UK basketball is in the Bahamas, playing three games on the SEC Network, beginning on August 15. We sincerely hope our customers will rescan before the August 14 launch date to avoid any issues during the Cats’ games the following three days. We don’t want any fan of Big Blue Nation to miss a basket.”

FPB Plans Cable-Telecom Maintenance Window

FPB Directors Vote to Add SEC Network to FPB Cable

We are very happy to get this deal in place so our customers, and the fans of Big Blue Nation, don’t miss any of the action on the SEC Network.
— Assistant GM of Cable-Telecom John Higginbotham

After months of negotiations, the Frankfort Plant Board (FPB) has approved a contract from ABC/Disney/ESPN that includes rights to the new SEC Network. The deal was approved by the FPB Directors during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The SEC Network is included in the new contract, which also contains renewals for the ESPN family of networks, Disney Channel, and ABC Family among others. The contract also includes rights to WatchESPN and WATCH Disney, TV Everywhere products that allow for viewing on PCs and mobile devices. The contract was recently negotiated by the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), of which FPB and over 950 other cable providers across the United States are members.

FPB Assistant General Manager of Cable-Telecom John Higginbotham says getting this deal done was huge for FPB Cable customers. “We know our customer base includes a large number of UK fans and the SEC Network was priority number one for them.
