FOX hiking rates at 10 times rate of inflation

If no contractual agreement is reached Tuesday, some channels may go dark.

On behalf of the Frankfort Plant Board and hundreds of other cable companies across America, the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) is currently in negotiation with Fox Corporation to continue to offer their cable networks including FOX News Channel, FOX Business, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 to our customers. NCTC represents FPB and other independent cable companies in order to secure contracts with networks at the lowest price possible. These negotiations affect more than a million viewers.

The NCTC is attempting to reach a fair agreement, but FOX is demanding an enormous rate increase that is more than 10 times the rate of inflation. We cannot agree to unreasonable terms and rate increases that will directly impact our customers’ monthly bills.

If NCTC is unable to reach an agreement before Tuesday, December 31, at 11:59 p.m., FOX may force us to remove their cable networks from our lineup.

Since 2004, FOX has increased rates for Fox News Channel by almost 800 percent. It is not fair that our customers continue to absorb these rate increases while multi-billion-dollar companies make record profits. We are fighting on our customers’ behalf to keep costs down.

FPB honored with the KEMI award for workplace safety

FRANKFORT – Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance (KEMI) honored the Frankfort Plant Board for its commitment to workplace safety by awarding the organization with the 2019 KEMI Destiny Award. FPB has received this award eight out of the past nine years.

“FPB employees have devoted themselves to creating a habit of excellence,” said FPB Safety Director Kim Phillips. “Nowhere is this more evident than in the success of our safety program. Safety performance is an indicator of the overall spirit of a company and its employees. The KEMI Destiny Award underscores that FPB is one of the very best companies with some of the most talented and caring employees in the state.”

According to KEMI, FPB was chosen because of its demonstrated ability to effectively manage a formal safety program, provide on-site training and regular safety meetings for employees. FPB also displays an ongoing commitment to safety from all levels of the organization.

The Destiny Award symbolizes what can be accomplished when organizations work together to improve workplace safety.
