Tonight the #1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats host #6 Texas at Rupp Arena in Men’s NCAA basketball action.

Tip-off is set for 7pm. Both teams are undefeated and evenly matched. Will the Cats continue their early domination or will the Longhorns upset the young guns from UK?

Saturday, celebrate the official start to the holiday season at the 66th Annual Frankfort Jaycee's Christmas Parade in downtown Frankfort.

The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. The parade route begins at Mero Street (beside the Old State Office Building), turns left onto Ann Street, followed  by a right onto Broadway. The route continues with a left on Washington, then left on Main and finishes back down High Street.

FPB-TV will be on hand to tape the entire event. The parade will air back on FPB TV channel 10 on Thursday, December 18th at 7pm and will air back multiple times leading up to Christmas Day. For the first time ever, FPB TV’s production will feature multiple cameras and will air in full HD.

FPB Cable Customer Phone Survey

Every three years, FPB Cable enters retransmission consent negotiations with the Lexington and Louisville broadcast affiliates.  Due to the rapidly increasing fees these stations are requesting, FPB believes consideration should be given to the possibility of not renewing agreements with each of these affiliates.

Because this decision will have an impact on every FPB Cable customer, FPB believes it necessary to get the opinion of our subscribers.  To that end, FPB has contracted with Comer Research Consultants to perform a telephone survey.  Between November 10 and November 21, customers may receive a phone call asking for their preference on local broadcast affiliates and the associated fees.  FPB urges customers to share their opinion so FPB can make decisions which accurately represent our customers’ wishes.  

Retransmission consent is a provision of the 1992 United States Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act that requires cable operators, such as FPB, to obtain permission from broadcasters before carrying their programming.

A broadcast station (such as ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox) may propose that the cable operator, such as FPB, pay cash to carry the station or ask for any other form of consideration, such as an additional channel for supplementary programs. The cable operator may also refuse the broadcaster's proposal, in which case the station may refuse to allow the cable operator to retransmit its signal. 

FPB carries and negotiates with four Lexington networks and three in Louisville.

Blue-White Scrimmage Tonight!

It’s almost Halloween and that means college basketball season is just around the corner.

Tonight, FPB Classic Cable customers will have the opportunity to witness the #1 team in the country play live on SEC Network as the Kentucky Wildcats participate in their annual Blue-White Scrimmage.  While much of the pre-season hype has been about the two platoons of Wildcat players, tonight fans will get to watch as those two platoons go against each other in this intra-squad scrimmage.

Logistically, because it’s an intrasquad scrimmage, the hockey line-like shifts that have shaped much of the preseason talk won’t be put into action Monday. Instead, the two platoons will go head-to-head in a scrimmage the Wildcats say is all about pride.

“I think everybody’s going to have fun being able to play an actual game,” freshman Trey Lyles said Friday. “Madness was more just like pickup, but now playing against each other competitively is going to be a lot of fun.”

Practices, to this point, have been intense.

With a team that features nine former McDonald’s All-Americans and 12 guys who John Calipari says deserve to play, there isn’t a starting group and a backup group, so to speak. No, with two platoons that look to be fairly equal, practices have been competitive and unremitting for the players.

Out With the Hub In With Discovery Family Channel

Where did the Hub Network go?  As of October 13th, the Hub Network has become Discovery Family Channel. The network will broaden its programming focus to serve families in primetime and continue to showcase Hasbro Studios award-­‐winning children’s content in daytime.

Schleiff has overseen the successful turnaround and growth of several networks within the Discovery portfolio. Previously, Cosgrove served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Discovery Channel and Science Channel and has held senior leadership positions at ABC Family, Fox Family, Fox Kids and TV Guide Channel prior to his time at Discovery.

This year’s event will be covered live Friday, October 17 beginning at 7pm on ESPN3. Access to the online channel ESPN3 is free for all FPB Broadband subscribers on their computer. Big Blue Madness is also available for FPB Classic Cable customers through WatchTVEverywhere. FPB Cable subscribers can enjoy every minute of madness on their tablets and smartphones with the free WatchESPN App. WatchESPN can also be streamed on televisions via Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE.

According to ESPN spokespeople, there will be live cut-ins on ESPNU (FPB Preferred Cable channel 141 and in HD on 641). Additionally, SEC Now will air highlights and clips of the event at 9pm on the SEC Network (FPB Classic Cable channel 34 and 534). Finally, there will also be a packaged show on SEC Network focused on Big Blue Madness at 11pm.

Calipari's Combine Starts at 3pm on ESPNU

John Calipari's two-day NBA scouting combine in Lexington will be televised on ESPNU channel 141 & 641 today.

Couch Cal has invited officials of 30 NBA teams to visit and watch the 2014-2015 UK team “do everything from run full-court five-on-five and NBA-style pick-and-roll sets to individual skill work.”
