“Hell Baby,” a comedy scripted by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Night at The Museum, Reno 911!: Miami) marks their co-directing debut.

Jack (Rob Corddry) and Vanessa (Leslie Bibb) are an expectant couple that moves into the most haunted fixer-upper in New Orleans -- a house with a deadly demonic curse. Things soon spiral out of control for Jack and Vanessa, as well as their-not-so-helpful neighbor F’Resnel (Keegan-Michael Key), Vanessa’s friendly psychiatrist (Michael Ian Black), Vanessa’s Wiccan sister Marjorie (Riki Lindhome) and the detectives assigned to look into the rising body count (Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer). Only the Vatican’s elite exorcism team (Garant and Lennon) can save them -- or can they?

Thunder Storms - Be Prepared

Thunder storms are in the forecast this summer and can often arrive with little notice. We've put together a few tips to help you be prepared for power outages, lightning and severe weather.

storm2.jpg

Know the Terms

Severe Thunderstorm Watch - Tells you when and where severe thunderstorms are likely to occur. Watch the sky and stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio, commercial radio or television for information.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Issued when severe weather has been reported by spotters or indicated by radar. Warnings indicate imminent danger to life and property to those in the path of the storm.

Be Prepared Before a Storm

It’s best to be prepared before a storm hits: you may have to evacuate your home quickly or you may need provisions during a power outage; make sure your essentials are ready.  Build an emergency kit with food, water and other supplies to help you manage during any outages.

emergencykit.jpg

Emergency Kit

The following are recommend items for a basic emergency kit. Special consideration should be made for medicines, the elderly, and infant or children.

Food: Food items should include foods your family will eat with any special dietary needs considered.  Try to avoid foods that will make you thirsty.  The following is a list of suggested foods: ready to eat canned meats, fruits, vegetables, protein or fruit bars, peanut butter, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, canned juices, and vitamins.

Water: Store approximately one gallon of tap water per person per day for at least three days. Use food grade storage containers; thoroughly cleaned plastic soda bottles also work well.  Replace water every six months.

Supplies: manual can opener, battery powered or hand crank radio with batteries, flashlight with extra batteries, first aid kit, whistle to signal for help, blankets or sleeping bags, matches, garbage bags with ties for personal sanitation.

During a Thunderstorm

Stay away from windows and off porches; Avoid hilltops, open fields and bodies of water: Avoid contact with anything metal; Avoid contact with plumbing: showers, washing hands from a sink, washing dishes and laundry; Avoid contact with electrical equipment and chorded appliances.  Unplug any electrical items, especially computers, and TVs: Turn off air conditioners.

After a Thunderstorm

Report downed power lines immediately by calling 502-352-4372.

Never drive through a flooded roadway; stay away from storm-damaged areas: listen or watch local television stations for updated information.

FPB Cable Reorganizes TV Lineup

The restructuring will allow for programming to coincide with other like shows and networks. Kids programming will all be in one area, sports in its own area, news, and so on

Television programming is an ever changing medium. New shows, new times, new networks, networks renamed…it can be a vexing issue to providers and viewers.

FPB Cable is taking the initiative to try and make the cable lineup easier to navigate and understand.

“We want our cable lineup to make sense, and the most logical way to do that is match up similar networks and programming within a particular genre where possible,” said  John Higginbotham, FPB Cable-Telecom Superintendent.

There are multiple reasons for the reorganization of the lineup. While FPB’s goal is to make it more viewer friendly, Higginbotham says some of the changes are mandated by networks. “Networks have very specific language in their contracts of where certain channels must be placed in a lineup. One of the reasons we decided to make a move of this magnitude, was because SPEED Channel is changing to FOX Sports 1 and that channel must be carried in our Classic Cable tier.”

Continuity is key in programming and Higginbotham says this change will improve that area tremendously. “The restructuring will allow for programming to coincide with other like shows and networks. Kids programming will all be in one area, sports in its own area, news, and so on. Once customers get accustomed to the changes, we feel it will really improve our product.”

The changes will take effect August 20 and Higginbotham realizes the impact it will have on customers. “FPB Cable did not go into this lightly. We took a look at recent lineup additions, and future lineup demands, and decided now was the time to make some changes.” Higginbotham says it is much like spring cleaning, “We saw that after adding many channels over the last few years, our lineup was a little messy and could be cleaned up a bit. No one likes to clean out the basement, but every now and then you have to.”

Drink Up

water3.jpg

Water makes up nearly 60% of your body weight and is vital to every single cell and system in your body.  Water flushes toxins, maintains your body temperature, carries nutrients to cells and protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues.

Most of us drink water every day, but it’s summer and the temperatures are rising – we’re outside with sports, camping, working, gardening and playing - making it vital  to stay properly hydrated.  Lack of water can lead to dehydration and even death.

Staying properly hydrated, especially during the summer months, is essential for your health and well-being.  Mild dehydration is characterized by headaches, sluggishness, decreased urine and sweat output.  If not treated quickly, dehydration can lead to serious complications: swelling in the brain, seizures, kidney failure and in some cases, death.

In most instances, dehydration can be treated with extra fluids.  In order to stay properly hydrated, the Instituted of Medicine (IOM) recommends men drink roughly three liters every day and women  drink 2.2 liters; while remembering to increase your intake the more you’re exercising or spending long periods in the sun.

Water is almost always your healthiest drink option.  Several drink options have little to no nutritional benefits.  Sodas, and a lot of juice drinks are primarily sugar.  Sports drinks are good during intense activity but in most cases, water is your best choice:

Research has shown that water speeds up your metabolism, cleans the body of toxins, and has even improved the quality of life for long time sufferers of severe headaches and migraines.  On top of that, water lessens the urge for empty calories, and increases your energy level.

FPB TV Debuts Inside Kentucky Politics

This program gives voters that elect our leaders, an opportunity to hear what those elected officials are doing and why

Frankfort is the center of politics for everyone in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. From Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. to Frankfort City Hall, decision makers, policy and elections have a daily impact on this community.

“Inside Kentucky Politics,” produced by the Frankfort Plant Board, is a new thirty minute television program that provides elected officials a platform to discuss the issues that are facing the people of Frankfort and Franklin County.

andybarr.jpg

Airing monthly on FPB Classic Cable channel 10 and in High Definition on 510, “Inside Kentucky Politics” premiered Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30. The first guest was 6th District United States Congressman Andy Barr.

“Inside Kentucky Politics” is part of an FPB initiative to provide more local programming to the community. John Higginbotham, FPB Cable-Telecom Superintendent, says the uniqueness of FPB-TV goes perfectly with this community. “FPB-TV does a lot more than most local origination channels. From multi-camera events, sports and live election coverage to meetings of boards and civic groups, FPB-TV is a news and entertainment destination channel.”

Inside-KY-Pol-Still---2-shot.jpg

Higginbotham thinks “Inside Kentucky Politics” will quickly become one of FPB-TV’s signature shows. “Frankfort is obviously the nerve center of government in Kentucky. Our customers pay closer attention and vote at a much larger percentage than any other community in the state. This program gives voters that elect our leaders, an opportunity to hear what those elected officials are doing and why.”

Hosted by Glenn Waldrop, “Inside Kentucky Politics” can also be seen on FPB Video On Demand.

Watch Turner Everywhere

tveverywhere.jpg
Higginbotham knows customers have a desire for “everywhere” programming and plans on adding more TVE options in the near future

Frankfort Plant Board (FPB) Cable customers can now watch the Turner family of  networks on their smart phones, home computers and tablets - for free!

Turner Networks recently added their content to WatchTVEverywhere (WTVE) programming and FPB customers can download these free apps and watch live and pre-produced programming anywhere there’s an internet connection. Turner Networks include: TNT, TBS, TRU, CNN, Headline News (HLN), Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.

Available to FPB Classic Cable customers via computers, smartphones and tablets, CNN and HLN are live simulcasts of each cable network’s programming. FPB Cable-Telecom Superintendent John Higginbotham says being able to watch live news anywhere is a tremendous benefit to customers. “Today’s world of constant updates and the 24 hour news cycle has previously been limited to websites and Twitter. Now FPB Classic Cable customers can watch the news unfold from anywhere on three separate news networks.” CNN and HLN join FOX News on the FPB WTVE lineup.

Other Turner TVE programming features shows like, TNT’s “Southland”, TBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” , Cartoon Network’s “Ben 10”, TRU TV’s “World’s Dumbest” and Adult Swim which is known for animated shows like “Family Guy”.

“We are excited the Turner family of networks has agreed to begin offering their programming to our customers via WatchTVEverywhere. We hope other programmers, who have been hesitant to allow us to provide their TVE content, will see the benefit of offering TVE programming to FPB and soon follow suit,” said Higginbotham.

Higginbotham knows customers have a desire for “everywhere” programming and plans on adding more TVE options in the near future. “As we finalize contract renegotiations with our various programmers and networks, more and more TVE products will be available in the coming weeks and months.”

FPB Cable customers can log on to www.watchTVeverywhere.com, select the Frankfort Plant Board as their provider, download the free apps and have programming from these networks at their fingertips at no charge.   New WTVE users can visit www.fpb.cc for more information on how to register their accounts.
