New Movie Tuesday!

ROBOCOP

In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy - a loving husband, father and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.

Alternate RoboCop art and poster by Tim Doyle.

Lone Survivor

The French movie poster for Peter Berg's Lone Survivor was too good not to show.  Interestingly, the french title translates to Blood and Tears.  The movie is an adaptation of Marcus Luttrell's book of the same name in which a four member Navy Seals team sets out on a mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah.  Marcus and his team are left to fight for their lives in one of the most valiant efforts of modern warfare.

Son of God

The life story of Jesus is told from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.

"The film was adapted from the ten-hour miniseries The Bible,[3]which aired in March 2013 on the History channel...The film features select scenes from the miniseries as well as footage not aired in the telecast."

About ESPN3 and FPB

ESPN has a family of networks. ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN Classic & ESPN 3 all have their own content and individual programming.

When customers visit ESPN3.com, they have access to ESPN3 content only: live events and “taped delayed” content.

ESPN3 is available to all FPB Broadband customers and is accessed using their FPB Broadband connection.

ESPN 3 can be viewed through a remote customer account:  in order to access the site remotely, customers must use a computer. The ESPN 3 content is not available on smart phones, tablets, or mobile devices.

Watch ESPN is a live simulcast of the linear ESPN network. While FPB has made every effort, and put all infrastructure in place to provide the service, FPB Cable customers do not currently have access to Watch ESPN content due to the current NCTC contract agreement. NCTC is currently in negotiations with ESPN and hopes to be able to offer WatchESPN in the future.

FPB currently offers a variety of programming choices via Watch TV Everywhere. NBC Sports Live Extra, History, A&E, Golf Live Extra, Lifetime, BTN2GO (Big 10 Network), FOX News among others are available to all FPB Cable customers FREE OF CHARGE and can be viewed on any mobile device.

Veronica Mars is Back! Again!

Veronica Mars, created by screenwriter Rob Thomas (not to be confused with American rock singer Rob Kelly Thomas of Matchbox Twenty fame), made it's television debut in 2004.  The series was cancelled in 2007 but not before receiving critical acclaim.

"...the series premiered in September to 2.49 million American viewers.[4] The critically acclaimed first season's run of 22 episodes garnered an average of 2.5 million viewers per episode in the United States. Veronica Mars appeared on a number of fall television best lists, and garnered several awards and nominations. During the series' run, it was nominated for two Satellite Awards, four Saturn Awards, five Teen Choice Awards and was featured on AFI's TV Programs of the Year for 2005." - wikipedia.org

Veronica Mars, famously played by Kristen Bell, was originally written as a young adult novel with a male protagonist.  Thomas (again, not MB20 Thomas) changed the gender believing a noir story told from a female point of view would be more interesting and original.

After the show's cancellation, Thomas wrote a script for a feature film continuing the series but Warner Bros. declined to fund the project.  As anyone denied funding from the WB would do, Thomas and Bell took to the Internet.  They began a Kickstarter campaign in March of 2013 to raise the money needed to produce the movie.  In record breaking time of less than 10 hours, the $2,000,000 goal was reached.

The Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign broke several records including: Fastest project to reach $1 million - Fastest project to reach $2 million - All-time highest-funded project in FILM category - Third highest-funded project in Kickstarter history - Most project backers of any project in Kickstarter history.

And we have the Veronica Mars movie weeks before you'll find it on Netflix and Redbox. Watch the trailer below and then the movie tonight!

Or this weekend.  Whichever works best for you.

Spring Saving Tips

Spring is finally here and we've put together a few tips to help save energy, money and make the world a little greener.

Wash with Cold Water

Up to 90% of energy consumed by washing machines can be attributed solely to heating the water, even though most loads can run with cold water. Washing most of your clothes in cold water, and, whenever possible, hang-drying certain items, can drastically reduce your energy consumption.

Use More Off-Peak Energy

Especially as the weather gets warmer, running high-energy appliances and other energy-guzzling devices at night can have a dramatic environmental impact. Even refueling your car at night is more environmentally friendly than doing so during the day, since gasoline evaporates much more readily into the atmosphere while the sun is still out. Increasingly, energy providers are adopting more flexible energy-rate policies, in order to encourage consumers to use more off-peak energy in lieu of peak-rate energy.

Control Your Thermostat!

Heating and Air Conditioning consume a huge amount of energy and drive up the cost of your energy bills, so adjust your room temperatures, and turn off your heater/AC while you’re away during the day.

One of the best alternatives to an AC that you can turn to is the “swamp cooler,” which consumes up to 75% less energy by using an evaporative air-cooling process.
