Raspberry Lemonade

It's almost Fall but it's still pretty hot!  So we rustled up this delicious sounding lemonade from the Food Network's Ree Drummond for you to enjoy while watching your favorite programs or new to video on demand movies.  This kid friendly beverage is sure to please! 

Ingredients

4 cups fresh lemon juice
3 cups sugar
1 bag frozen raspberries
Ice cubes, for serving

Directions
Squeeze the lemons and pour the juice into a pitcher. Mix together the sugar with 3 cups water and stir to dissolve to make a syrup. Add the syrup to the lemon juice and top it up with 8 cups water. Taste to make sure it's sweet enough for you, and then add the raspberries. Mix the lemonade together and let chill in the fridge. (Keep in mind that the raspberries are tart, so be sure to sweeten enough!)

Fill mason jars with ice cubes and top them off with the lemonade.

D'oh! It's Happening Right Now on FXX

FXX, is currently, right this minute, running a 12 day Simpsons marathon, starting at the beginning with the first episode of season one.

Typically, reruns of the Simpsons found scattered throughout all hours of the day and night, among various channels are shortened for syndication.  But over the next two weeks, FXX will air the original, uncut versions of episodes across all 25 seasons.  

This seems particularly notable for an episode like “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson,” which originally aired in 1997 and was pulled completely from syndication after the September 11 attacks due to the prominence of the World Trade Center in the plot.  By 2006 the episode had returned to syndication in some areas; however, parts of the episode were often edited out. "One previously such edited item is a scene of two men arguing across Tower 1 and Tower 2, where a man from Tower 2 claims, "They stick all the jerks in Tower One!" Co-executive producer Bill Oakley commented in retrospect that the line was "regrettable"." -

It's New Movie Tuesday!  We have two new motion pictures available today.  

Get your evening started with a tasty dish from the Cooking Channel's Giada De Laurentiis.  Then sit down and enjoy FPB VOD.

Pasta Primavera 

Ingredients

• 3 carrots, peeled and cut into thin strips
• 2 medium zucchini or 1 large zucchini, cut into thin strips
• 2 yellow squash, cut into thin strips
• 1 onion, thinly sliced
• 1 yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips
• 1 red bell pepper, cut into thin strips

• 1/4 cup olive oil
• Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
• 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs orherbes de Provence
• 1 pound farfalle (bowtie pasta)
• 15 cherry tomatoes, halved
• 1/2 cup grated Parmesan

Directions

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

On a large heavy baking sheet, toss all of the vegetables with the oil, salt, pepper, and dried herbs to coat. Transfer half of the vegetable mixture to another heavy large baking sheet and arrange evenly over the baking sheets. Bake until the carrots are tender and the vegetables begin to brown, stirring after the first 10 minutes, about 20 minutes total.

Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente, tender but still firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid.

Toss the pasta with the vegetable mixtures in a large bowl to combine. Toss with the cherry tomatoes and enough reserved cooking liquid to moisten. Season the pasta with salt and pepper, to taste. Sprinkle with the Parmesan and serve immediately.

Hot Mustard Popcorn

Yield: 2 quarts

Ingredients

• 2 quarts popcorn popped
• 1/4 cup oil
• 1 teaspoon mustard (dry)
• 1/2 teaspoon thyme
• 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
• Dash cayenne pepper
• Optional: 1/2 teaspoon low-sodium salt

Directions

Keep popcorn warm.
Mix seasonings together
Add to popped popcorn and mix thoroughly.

UK Plays Today on the SEC Network

And finally, weeks before it's available on Netflix or found in Redbox, we have A Haunted House 2.  Having exorcised the demons of his ex, Malcolm is starting fresh with his new girlfriend and her two children. After moving into their dream home, however, Malcolm is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events.

School's in session so treat those hard working kids to a movie and some delicious Macaroni and Cheese.  This Buffalo-Chicken Macaroni and Cheese from the Food Network is sure to please all family members: 

Buffalo-Chicken Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

7 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for the dish
Kosher salt
1 pound elbow macaroni
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
3 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup hot sauce (preferably Frank's)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons dry mustard
2 1/2 cups half-and-half
1 pound yellow sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 3 1/2 cups)
8 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
2/3 cup sour cream
1 cup panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil; add the pasta and cook until al dente, about 7 minutes. Drain.

Meanwhile, melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and celery and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in the chicken and garlic and cook 2 minutes, then add 1/2 cup hot sauce and simmer until slightly thickened, about 1 more minute.

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and mustard with a wooden spoon until smooth. Whisk in the half-and-half, then add the remaining 1/4 cup hot sauce and stir until thick, about 2 minutes. Whisk in the cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, then whisk in the sour cream until smooth.

Spread half of the macaroni in the prepared baking dish, then top with the chicken mixture and the remaining macaroni. Pour the cheese sauce evenly on top.

Put the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave until melted. Stir in the panko, blue cheese and parsley. Sprinkle over the macaroni and bake until bubbly, 30 to 40 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Theater-Style Buttered Popcorn

Movie theaters use butter-flavored oil, which has a lower water content than butter so it makes popcorn less soggy. Real clarified butter has the same effect. To make it, melt 2 sticks butter in a glass measuring cup in the microwave. Let sit for a few minutes; the butter will separate into 3 layers. Skim off the top layer of foam, then slowly pour the clarified butter into a heatproof container; discard the bottom layer of milk solids. Use 3 tablespoons hot clarified butter for 10 cups popcorn; refrigerate the rest (it's great for sauteeing).

Watch It On Demand Before It's In Theaters

FRONTERA (Spanish for "border") is a thrilling drama starring Ed Harris, Eva Longoria and Michael Pena.

Set in the tumultuous Border area of Arizona and Mexico, FRONTERA follows the events that take place after a former Arizona Sheriff's wife is killed while riding on their Ranch property. It would appear a Mexican man (Michael Pena) crossing in to the US illegally is at fault. As former Sheriff (Ed Harris) and current Sheriff search for answers, lives are changed forever and the facts as to who is really at fault in this tragedy are nearly as tenuous and complex as the issues and tensions between the people who live in this region on either side of the line.

Frito PIe

Toss 12 cups hot popcorn, 6 tablespoons melted butter, 4 cups Fritos (or other corn chips) and 2 tablespoons chili powder; spread on backing sheets.  Top with 2 cups shredded cheddar and 2 chopped scallions.  Bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit until the cheese melts, 3 minutes.  Season with salt.
